Uneori, cei norocoși vor fi întâmpinați de ariile muzicale cu influențe medievale interpretate la fluier de către paznicul cetății, un bătrân crescut în munții ce găzduiesc această fortificație.

Istorie

Inițial, cetatea a fost construită în vremea lui Negru Vodă în secolul al XIII-lea, cu doar un singur turn. În secolul al XIV -lea, Vlad Țepeș a adăugat construcției turnuri, ziduri și dependințe cu scopul de a alcătui un refugiu.

1500 – Cetatea Poenari a fost menționată pentru prima dată într-un document emis de către regele ungur Ladislau al V-lea Postumul.

1955 – A avut loc un cutremur puternic ce a adus însemnate pagube cetății. Aproximativ toată partea Nordică a zidului s-a prăbușit o dată cu stânca de care se sprijinea.

1696 – 1972 – În acest interval Cetatea Poenari a fost restaura tă de mai multe ori, zidurile au fost înălțate și consolidate. De asemenea, în perioada comun istă, s-au construit trepte de acces ce permit vizitarea întregii fortărețe în condiții sigure.
